Free English Classes/ Clases de Inglés gratuítas
The Central American Refugee Center is accepting new students for their free and virtual English classes! Suffolk and Nassau County residents who meet a low income requirement can enroll in a low-literacy, beginner or advanced English course.
Classes begin on January 10th, 2022, and anyone who is interested can fill out this form to see if you're eligible.

New income guidelines for childcare assistance:
Starting August 1, 2022, households with incomes up to 300% of the State Income Standard are eligible for the child care subsidy program. For example, a family of 2 with a household income of $54,930 or a family of 4 with household income up to $83,250 can apply for childcare assistance. Applications can be submitted through the local Nassau or Suffolk Department of Social Services or by mail.

SUFFOLK COUNTY
In Suffolk County, cooling centers are run by the towns. Residents should contact their local municipality to find a location near them. County beaches will remain open until 6:30 p.m.
BABYLON
The cooling center will be open 24 hours/ seven days a week throughout the wave of heat.

The following cooling centers will be available to Town of Huntington residents for the duration hot weather.
The Crime Victims Center DBA Parents for Megan's Law provides NO-COST confidencial short and long- term counsellin to a child or adult victims of violent crime including domestic violence, gang violence, staking assault and others violent crimes.

We are located in the Outreach Center building. The staff and volunteers offer immediate help to
people in need of:
Food
Economic assistance
Basic needs of living
Medical equipment such as walkers, canes, etc.
Short-term counseling
Crisis intervention
In partnership with St. Vincent De Paul, the Food Pantry offers emergency food to families and individuals who are struggling financially. Persons in need may call for an appointment or just stop by the Outreach office. During the initial meeting, evaluation and assessment are made, and follow-through is provided by the staff.

Thrift Shop --
The Thrift Shop sells gently used clothing, household items, baby items, books, toys, jewelry, etc at reduced prices. All proceeds go to Parish Outreach and are used to provide help to families in need. The Thrift Shop is located in the convent and is open Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 10:00 a.m to 3:00 p.m. Donations are gratefully accepted.
