RCIA – The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults On Sunday, March 5, five Catechumens from St. Joseph’s Parish participated in the Rite of Election at St. Anne’s R.C. Church in Brentwood with Bishop Barres and all the parishes in Suffolk County in the Diocese of Rockville Centre. This is a very important step in the journey of the R.C.I.A. It’s a clear sign to the community that our Catechumens are coming closer to receiving the Sacraments of Initiation and Full Communion with the Church at our Easter Vigil, Saturday, April 15. On Sunday, March 19, (3rd Sunday during Lent) March 26, (4th Sunday during Lent) and April 2, (the 5th Sunday of Lent,) at our 10:15 A.M. Mass, we will celebrate the “Scrutiny’s” – for our Elect Inge, Glen, Amanda, Krystal and Kent to continue to remain “united with Christ and make progress in their efforts to love God more deeply.” The Church gives us this public and life-giving process during LENT so that our Catechumen can be nourished and supported by our parish family. At the same time, we know that when we initiate others, we confront and renew our own identity as members of the Catholic community. Please continue to pray for our Catechumen as they continue their RCIA journey and for all our RCIA team.
