Our High School Teens carry their work at the PBJ Gang one step further.
They volunteer their time on a regular basis working at the
Hospitality Too Soup Kitchen. These teens arrive at 8am and work til 12:30. SOUP KITCHEN LOCATED IN THE BASEMENT OF
ST. ANN'S CHURCH IN BRENTWOOD.
***WE HELP ON OUR DESIGNATED SATURDAYS! PLEASE DO NOT JUST SHOW UP AT THE HOSPITALITY TOO UNLESS YOU ARE REGISTERED IN ADVANCE. There are only a limited number of Volunteer Positions available each week.
They clean floors, set up tables, cart boxes, make sandwiches, gather groceries and help serve guests. All in all a very busy morning but well worth the effort.
It is important that we teach our Teens to give back - and they know that because school is requiring Community Service Hours...........BUT....it is very rewarding when the Teens begin to see the need to give more, and they volunteer because they WANT TO, not because the HAVE TO.
As we continue to Lead by Example, let's continue to pray for all the volunteers at the Hospitality Too Soup Kitchen as well as all of the many guests who are fed their every week.
NEXT SCHEDULED VOLUNTEER DATES: ___________
Will keep you posted. Right now the Soup Kitchen has a full schedule of weekend volunteers.
Over the summer: We will be looking for additional help at the Soup Kitchen. Parents must accompany anyone who is younger than age 15.
Please sign up in advance so we know how many to expect. Thank you.
Our Sandwiches have also gone to help individuals.
A member of our Youth Group told us of a friend who was in need - and immediately the decision was made to help where we could so sandwiches were delivered and gratefully received.
We have also handed off some of our sandwiches to the Young Adults of our Diocese who have been able to bring them directly into NYC and personally deliver them to men, women, and children who live on the streets of Manhattan.
