Catholic Youth Organization
VISION: Sports is a component of comprehensive youth ministry which enables the partnership of parents, coaches, and adult leaders to manage and support a sports program that allows youth to grow in their relationship with God and come to better understand themselves and the Catholic faith.
PERSPECTIVE: Sports have become a major force of influence in our society. This significant capacity to influence has led to a greater need for examination of the power of sports as either a life-giving or life-draining force in the lives of athletes, their coaches, their parents and the entire institution that sponsors the programs.
Sports have the capacity to greatly enrich the body, mind, and soul of the athlete, as well as enhance the life and spirit of the community. We view sports as a healthy and holistic activity, and as a wonderful vehicle of spreading faith through gospel values.

Volunteers
We are always looking for volunteers and coaches for each of our programs to be successful. Without volunteers our programs will not be able to run. In order to keep our children safe all volunteers must complete VIRTUS training and have a background check. You may sign up for VIRTUS training by clicking the link. Once you take the class it is good for every event at our Parish.
To ensure the safety of our children, all Volunteers are required to attend a VIRTUS workshop and and undergo a background check. VIRTUS is a 2-3 hour training session to raise our awareness to the safety measures which need to be in place when working with Children.
Once you attend, please submit a copy of your VIRTUS Certificate to the Parish Office. General information about the VIRTUS workshop is below.
The VIRTUS workshop is offered at many parishes at different times to accommodate all busy schedules. please check the virtus.org webpage for upcoming classes.
Pre-registration is necessary. Please follow the link to create a VIRTUS account and register for the session which fits your schedule. As you look at the sessions which are available - if you find one at a different parish which is easier to attend, you may register there -- simply let them know that you are volunteering at St Joseph's, Babylon.
Your "Organization" is Rockville Centre NY (Safe Environment Diocese)
**We are offering this workshop at St Joseph's on Tuesday, 9/26 at 10am and 7pm in the O'Connell Room
