St. Joseph Babylon Chapter

We help, with Major emergencies, fighting disease and poverty, and nurturing peaceful and just societies.

Jesus teaches us in Matthew’s Gospel (Chapter 25) - “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat…..” and “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me."

Our Chapter is part of a national network of Chapters that meets monthly on zoom with a focus on a targeted monthly action with a focus on advocating to our elected officials to support legislation and measures which provide funding for the poorest of the poor.

CRS is not just about providing aid, but rather to invest in revitalizing communities for sustainable growth and stability.

We then meet once a month in person (details in Parish Bulletin) at 7pm in the Parish Center.

Our group meets with members of U.S. Congress and at the CRS National Convention in Washington D.C. to advance our goals.

We also invite you to participate in our monthly action initiative (posted in bulletin) even if you cannot join our chapter.

What is Catholic Relief Services?

Catholic Relief Services (CRS) was founded in 1943 by the Catholic Bishops of the United States to serve World War II survivors in Europe. Since then, we have expanded in size to reach more than 200 million people in 95 countries on five continents.

For over 80 years, our mission has been to assist impoverished and disadvantaged people overseas, working in the spirit of Catholic social teaching to promote the sacredness of human life and the dignity of the human person. Although our mission is rooted in the Catholic faith, our operations serve people based solely on need, regardless of their race, religion or ethnicity. Within the United States, CRS engages Catholics to live their faith in solidarity with the poor and suffering people of the world.
